The purpose of an employee benefit plan is not only to attract and retain quality associates, but the design of the plan must also promote employee health. Healthy associates are present at work and more productive. While this is true, it is also true that the cost of health care benefits is becoming unaffordable for many employers. Therefore, it is critically essential that employee benefit plan design maximizes associate health while minimizing corporate cost. AIA Benefits Resource Group (BRG) takes a comprehensive and integrated approach to plan design to achieve this goal.

We believe that a properly designed benefit plan is the fundamental building block to a value-based benefit plan that will meet corporate goals and objectives. Everything else is secondary.

To properly design an employee benefit plan, we work with an employer's senior management team to first identify their benefit-related corporate objectives. Based on the corporate goals and objectives, we then deploy our rigorous analytical methods to fully analyze historical plan factors and claims experience to identify issues and opportunities. This analysis includes all benefit lines of coverage in terms of plan designs, associate eligibility, payroll contributions, funding mechanisms, associate incentives and disincentives, and employee communication and consumerism.

The result of the above analysis is a presentation to a client's senior management of plan design architecture alternatives and their expected impact, financial and otherwise. From this list of alternatives, the BRG client team works with the client to select the appropriate alternatives which are assembled into in a multi-year strategic planning framework.
